Z-Ro: biography, discography and legacy in the Genzeta Clips archive.

Z-Ro, born Joseph Wayne McVey on January 19, 1977, is an American rapper from Houston, Texas. He records as Z-Ro and the Mo City Don, and Houston remains central to his identity. In 2007, The New York Times named him one of America’s most underrated rappers, a recognition that underscored what his listeners already knew: his catalog rewards close attention.

His discography reaches back to 1998, when Screwed Up Click Representa (Slowed & Chopped) and Look What You Did To Me appeared. Z-Ro Tolerance Slowed & Chopped followed in 1999; A Bad Azz Mix Tape arrived in 2003, then 1-Deep (Slowed & Chopped) in 2006 and Tha Omega in 2007. He returned with Mo City Grey in 2015 and a busy 2016: Legendary, Drankin’ & Drivin’, and S O L I D. The slowed & chopped versions in his catalog sit alongside his Mo City Don alias, keeping the city close.
