That Mexican OT: biography, discography and legacy in the Genzeta Clips archive.

Virgil René Gazca, known professionally as That Mexican OT, is an American rapper from Bay City, Texas. Born February 2, 1999, he carries his region in the name itself: OT stands for Outta Texas. His music draws from hip-hop and Chicano rap, a combination that gives his catalog a distinct Texas flavor while keeping one foot in rap’s broader traditions.

That Mexican OT’s breakthrough arrived in 2023 with “Johnny Dang,” a collaboration with Paul Wall and Drodi. The single entered the Billboard Hot 100 and led to him signing with Interscope Records. It also preceded his debut studio album, Lonestar Luchador, released in July of that year. The record marked a major step, but it wasn’t his first: he had already been building a discography through projects like South Texas Project, Southside Steppin, and The Show Must Go On, among others.

Since then, he has continued to release work at a steady pace, including Texas Technician, Recess, and Chicken & Sauce. His rise is tied to a clear sense of place and a sound that honors both hip-hop and Chicano rap.
