Shwayze

Shwayze, born Aaron Smith, emerged from Malibu with a sound that splits the difference between West Coast hip-hop and laid-back beach culture. His first single, “Buzzin’,” introduced him to a national audience, peaking at No. 46 on the Billboard Hot 100, but it was the follow-up “Corona and Lime” that cemented his reach, climbing to No. 23 on the Hot 100 and No. 3 on the US iTunes Store. Both tracks fed into his self-titled debut album, released in August 2008, co-written by producer Cisco Adler.

Rather than chasing an aggressive rap lane, Shwayze has spent more than a decade refining a breezy, melodic approach. His catalog tells the story: from the live At The Hollywood Palladium and the Shwayzed and Confused EP to a steady run of full-lengths such as Beach Boy, Surf Trap, and Shwaycation. To call him prolific undersells how deliberate the project titles are. It is no accident that Shwayze Summer, Slice of Sunshine, and Island In The Sun all share a warm-weather vocabulary. Over time, Shwayze has built a reliable brand—sun-drenched, unhurried, and instantly recognizable, even as he keeps his own name front and center in the work.
