Armando Christian Pérez, known professionally as Pitbull, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter and actor from Miami. Born January 15, 1981, he began his career in the early 2000s as a reggaeton, Latin hip-hop and crunk performer. Signed to TVT Records, he released his debut album M.I.A.M.I. (2004), executive produced by Lil Jon. It entered the Billboard 200 alongside El Mariel (2006) and The Boatlift (2007). His fourth album, Pitbull Starring in Rebelution (2009), delivered his mainstream breakthrough: “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)” and “Hotel Room Service” reached No. 2 and No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100.
After rebranding as a pop artist, Pitbull found continued success with Planet Pit (2011), which spawned his first Hot 100 No. 1, “Give Me Everything” (featuring Ne-Yo, Afrojack and Nayer), and Global Warming (2012), home to the top-ten “Feel This Moment” (featuring Christina Aguilera). Later singles “Timber” (featuring Kesha) and “Time of Our Lives” (with Ne-Yo) extended his run. He also appeared on hits by Enrique Iglesias, Usher and Jennifer Lopez, and performed “We Are One (Ole Ola)” with Jennifer Lopez and Claudia Leitte, the official theme of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Dale (2015) won the Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album in 2016. His independent Latin hip-hop turn, Libertad 548 (2019), and Trackhouse (2023) followed.
