No Frills
No Frills: biography, discography and legacy in the Genzeta Clips archive.
No Frills takes a name straight from the language of commerce. A no-frills service is one stripped of its non-essential features so the cost stays low; the word “frill” itself comes from fabric decoration, and the free drink on a flight or the radio in a rental car counts as a frill. Worn as an alias, it reads as a promise: nothing added for show.
What the catalogue shows instead is a patient build. Nice to Meet You arrived in 2018, an introduction announced in the title. Haulin’ State of Mind followed in 2020, all labour and load-bearing, before Downward Dog in 2022 shifted the register toward stretch and recovery. Sad Clown, landing in 2025, closes the run on the sharpest note of the four, comedy and hurt pressed flat against each other.
Beyond the records, there is little on the public record here — no origin, no scene, no crew to name. That silence sits oddly well with the alias. Four releases in seven years, and the work is left to carry it.
