Lil Peep

Gustav Elijah Åhr, known to the world as Lil Peep, was an American rapper and singer-songwriter born in Allentown and raised on Long Island. A member of the hip-hop collective GothBoiClique, he became a defining force in emo rap, blurring lines between rap vulnerability and punk abrasiveness. He began posting to SoundCloud in 2013 as Trap Goose before settling on Lil Peep, a nickname his mother had used since infancy. The 2015 single “Star Shopping” broke him through on the platform, setting the stage for the mixtapes Lil Peep; Part One and Live Forever later that year.

His 2016 output — the widely acclaimed Crybaby and Hellboy — cemented his standing, while collaborative projects like California Girls and Vertigo showed his restless range. After his first live performance in Tucson as part of Schemaposse in February 2016, Peep spent the spring of 2017 on his first solo tour, packing venues across Russia, Western Europe, and the United States. Based in London, he recorded the Goth Angel Sinner EP and released his debut studio album, Come Over When You’re Sober, Pt. 1, in August 2017. That record marked a deliberate turn from emo trap toward pop-punk and rap rock. His death that November, from an accidental fentanyl and alprazolam overdose, cut the arc short. The posthumous Come Over When You’re Sober, Pt. 2 arrived in 2018, debuting at number four on the Billboard 200, with the documentary Everybody’s Everything following in 2019.
