Dua Saleh is a Sudanese-American singer, songwriter and actor with roots in Kassalā, now based in Minneapolis. They came to the United States from Sudan as a child and found language early through poetry. While studying at Augsburg University, Saleh began experimenting with music, sharing a demo in 2017 that led to a working relationship with Minneapolis producer Psymun. Live performances followed, and by 2019 they had released their debut EP, Nūr, a project that showed the elastic approach to genre that still defines them — rap, pop and R&B all surface, but none of those labels is allowed to pin the music down.
Saleh’s discography has since expanded with the 2020 EP ROSETTA and the deluxe CROSSOVER in 2022, leading to their first full-length studio album, I SHOULD CALL THEM, in 2024. Performance remains central to their practice: alongside recording, Saleh has acted in Minneapolis theater and is known for the recurring role of Cal Bowman in the Netflix series Sex Education. Across music and screen, their work resists easy categorization.
