Cannibal Ox

Cannibal Ox emerged from Harlem, New York, establishing themselves as a distinctive voice within the American hip-hop landscape. The project originally featured the formidable lyrical talents of Vast Aire and Vordul Mega, frequently bolstered by the cuts and scratches of DJ Cip-One. Their sound carved out a unique space, resonating with listeners seeking depth and intricate storytelling.

Their discography reflects a journey through various sonic landscapes. Early releases like Return of the Ox: Live at CMJ (2005) showcased their live energy, while Gotham (Deluxe Lp Edition) (2013) and The Cold Vein (Remixed by 3:33) (2014) further solidified their reputation. The year 2023 marked a significant period of output, with LIVE FROM THE AIREPORT, Blade of the Ronin, THE WILL TO POWER, and the Metal Ox: Maxi Single all dropping. This prolific year also saw a major shift, as Vordul Mega departed the project.

Despite the lineup change, Cannibal Ox continued to push forward, delivering AIREPLANE in 2024, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to their craft. The project’s evolution, from its Harlem roots to its continued output, underscores its enduring presence in the rap world.
