Big Daddy Kane: biography, discography and legacy in the Genzeta Clips archive.

Antonio Hardy, born September 10, 1968, is known to hip-hop as Big Daddy Kane. The Brooklyn artist is an American rapper, producer, and actor who began his career in 1986 as a member of the Juice Crew. That crew affiliation helped situate him in a formative era, but Kane’s own reputation rests on the mic. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential and skilled MCs in hip-hop, a technician whose delivery, wordplay, and presence made him a benchmark for lyricism.

Rolling Stone ranked his song “Ain’t No Half-Steppin’” 25th on its list of The 50 Greatest Hip-Hop Songs of All Time. The publication called him “a master wordsmith of rap’s … golden age and a huge influence on a generation of MCs.” That line gets at why Kane endures: he is not only a catalog artist but a reference point. His releases range from Long Live The Kane and It’s A Big Daddy Thing to Daddy’s Home, Veteranz Day, Looks Like A Job For…, and Taste Of Chocolate.
