50 Cent: biography, discography and legacy in the Genzeta Clips archive.

Curtis James Jackson III, known as 50 Cent, is an American rapper, actor, television producer, record executive, and businessman from Queens, New York. He began pursuing music in 1996. After recording his debut album, Power of the Dollar, for Columbia Records, a May 2000 shooting left him struck by nine bullets; the release was canceled and he was dropped. His 2002 mixtape Guess Who’s Back? reached Eminem, who signed him to Shady Records.

Get Rich or Die Tryin’ (2003) arrived to acclaim and commercial success, topping Billboard 200 and producing Hot 100 number one singles “In da Club” and “21 Questions” with Nate Dogg. That year he launched G-Unit Records, home to Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo. The Massacre (2005) continued his run with “Candy Shop” featuring Olivia. Later albums Curtis (2007), Before I Self Destruct (2009), and Animal Ambition (2014) traced a commercial shift and an attempted return to roots. He has since focused on television, executive-producing and starring in Power and spin-offs. Over 30 million albums sold, he remains a defining figure of 2000s hip-hop.
